Colonel, I'm ashamed of you!

Today was the day I was ashamed of a man in uniform. The Metro was packed. absolutely sardine like. Then... we had to get off because of a technical problem. so you can imagine what the NEXT one was like... Insanity!

So we squished in... and then I saw it. A full bird colonel, eagles gleaming. sitting. and an elderly woman standing in front of him. and he kept sitting. Now I don't expect him to get up for me. but this woman was white haired and having a great deal of trouble maintaining her balance and holding on to a rail.. and he sat. Officer and a gentleman, huh? Not So Much. and before anyone thinks he was injured.. the way he sprang up, grabbed his PT bag and rushed off when we hit his stop.. No.

He's probably one of those guys who considers himself so high up in rank that he doesn't have to pay attention to the people around him. In NYC, the wall street trader guys were the same exact way. More expensive the suit, the more likely they were to knock the elderly woman over to beat her to an empty seat.

Sad, LAW, just sad.

By contrast, I was on my way through the acre of parking on post to go to the doctor yesterday. Every single person I passed on my way to the building smiled and said good morning. While I was waiting for a lab thing I watched a gentleman stand up and give his seat to an older woman.

Courtesy does exist, just some need a slap in the face ;) The colonel certainly did.

Chocolate snickerdoodles huh? I'm not sure those will even make it to him as I will likely devour them all. Can I get the recipe? Yum!

Thank you for all the encouragement. I think I will start to join some chat rooms as well. Make contacts with people who may live near us in the future. Thanks

Chocolate snickerdoodles sound amazing and I might have to keep some for myself. Could you send me the recipe?

Thanks for all the encouragement. I will be finding some military wife chat rooms so I may hopefully make some new friends.

oh how disgusting. Perhaps he was off in his own world, not that it excuses his behavior (or lack there of).

I would have "accidently" smacked him with my laptop case....

I am indeed! Geez, that post made me want to bang my head against the computer screen.

I actually hadn't heard anything about this Spousebuzz Live thing. I usually spend a lot of weekends down in VA Beach during the summer since my grandmother has a beach house there. Are you on the VA or MD side?
