That the first really nasty comments - "you are a liberal - you are a traitor" type of trash... were both from "anonymous"?? With the courage of the vitriolic drivel he/she spat at me, wouldn't you want to proudly proclaim your identity?
OH - Anonymous - this country wasn't nuked, YES my husband is very proudly serving his country, as our son and daughter in law both did, the Constitution has been amended, NOT rewritten, and I do NOT hate America. I am not lazy, dependant on ANYONE for a handout, I am a hardworking and flag flying American... Next???
I don't mind, in fact I encourage, dialogue. coherent, well mannered, courteous discussion, not nasty, denigrating twaddle. OK, so I'll call some politicians names - but that's allowed! So if you disagree with me, fine, say so in the above referenced coherent courteous manner, and have the guts to leave your name/blog sign.

I'm not really sure why people think you can't be both liberal and pro-military. I've never been sure why the conservatives feel like they've got the whole patriotism thing all to themselves.
Anyway, I would definitely be interested in a District Spousebuzz get together! We don't go into DC very often, but it sounds like it would be a lot of fun :) Let me know!
How rude! It's funny how they VOLUNTARILY visit your web page and then attack you for diplaying your own thoughts! Um, here's a thought ... if it bothers you, don't visit!
I have had a couple of those comments too... those and an email that was pretty hateful about how military wives need to "get a life." It does stink, and I think that people who do this kind of thing tend to be very dis-empowered. Passive aggression at its most sophomoric level is what it is.
Besides, anyone who really reads what you write or watches how kindly you encourage other wives on SpouseBuzz or on their blogs (just like the thoughtful words you offered me when my mom was so sick in December) would have to admit that you are a kind person. I guess maybe that doesn't fit their own prejudiced ideas. Their loss for sure!
I am fairly Conservative (I veer wildly between both sides on some topics since I have a social work background), but I would never assume that someone is not patriotic due to his/her party affiliation. That is a pretty huge blanket statement to make about any group of people.
What, you don't wanna be a Lemming? lol It is your job as an American to question those in office. To call them out when they screw up. We are a Republic. We elect people to make major decisions. The only way to get crappy people and crappy ways out of office is to disagree. It's also the only way to get some changes made. To blindly follow... isn't that why our founding fathers didn't want a king?
Thank you all. Claire - I appreciate your kind thoughts.
Susan - yup, that's why they said they wanted to be rid of George and Parliament... hm... now we have a George and a Congress that can't seem to do diddly...

F them. The military is full of all kinds of people. Liberals seem to be a minority, but a sizable one, to be sure.
Besides, I enjoy speaking with people with whom I don't agree. Isn't that how we learn? I have a few Repub friends, and we enjoy friendly debate and poking fun at one another - I don't know how many times I've been called a crazy liberal. So what?
But anonymous types with small minds that can't defend their beliefs aren't worth a thought.
Fascinating... of the people in the military that I know (a Naval reservist of some 16 years, an Army National Guardsman of some 20 years, a second Guardsman -- in Texas, no less!) with twenty or so years, and an active duty USAF airman with two years in, conservatives are the decided minority... and it's the young kid who is the conservative. Make of that what you will.
BTW... according to the Texan, his liberalism was not the minority view even in his armoured unit.
Good gods, LAW. Where did this happen? And where's the rock these grubs keep crawling out from under? Srsly.
I don't understand the nuke comment - what nuke? When? Of course, I'm easily confused, but I don't think I'm being dense here....
I didn't post his/her blather. I will, ok? next post.
